ashheart
AND I'M ONLY HUMAN, I SAID I'M ONLY HUMAN
AND I'M ONLY HUMAN, I SAID I'M ONLY HUMAN
name...faire--ashpaw-- ashheart
age...28 moons
gender...male
clan...leopardclan
position...medicine cat
species...snow leopard
apperance...From a distance, Ashheart looks like any other snow leopard. Lithe and lean in stature, he has the characteristic white fur and silvery gray splotches all over his pelt, with startlingly blue eyes. His body isn't too terribly muscular -- it is nothing abnormal for a snow leopard. In fact, one could say he's a little weaker looking than most other big cats. He was the runt in his litter, so his size is fairly small, especially his height. This is only further accentuated with how submissively he carries himself -- tail between his legs, his head held low to the ground, and his ears falling back. His fur is thick and warm to prepare himself for cold winter months. All of this is perfectly normal.
Then, you see the scars on his back. They line his spine and pieces of his tail, moving all the way down his right hind leg. These patches of gray looking skin are rough to the touch and wrinkled looking, as if they had been melted. These burn scars are unable to be hidden, so Ashheart usually carries himself in a strange arching manner so that he can hide the hideous marks as much as possible.
personality...Ashheart can barely talk to someone without turning completely red in the face. His shyness makes it nearly impossible to talk to him -- if he is indeed brave enough to talk to someone, it would most likely be stammered out to the point where what he was trying to say would be either inaudible or choked out. It might make him look like a fool, but Ryan's intelligence is actually much farther than what his speech implies. His mind works so fast that he can't even really get words out quickly enough.
He despises anything that resembles conflict, which makes him a pushover. He would much rather walk away from an argument than actually confront someone. He was always fresh meat for bullies to pick on, he finds himself being a scapegoat for the people he loves.
If you happen to be lucky enough to break through Ash's shell and bring him out more, he can be a very fun person to be around. If he's around friends that he trusts, he will slowly come out of himself and joke around. However, this is an extremely rare thing to see if you haven't worked extremely hard at being gentle with him. He will only sink back into himself if you even jokingly make fun of him because his self esteem is so extremely low.
In spite of all this, Ashheart is incredibly kindhearted. His position as medicine cat is perfectly suited for him -- he won't rest until he knows that every cat in his den is safe and healing. He's incredibly motherly and will dote on any warrior that is injured or sick, and he takes the loss of a life extremely personally. However, after his short state of mourning, he dives even more vigorously into his work in order to save more than harm.
history...Faire was born outside of the Warrior lifestyle -- he was born in the wild in a densely cold area in the newly joined continent. He lived a fairly normal life as a loner, content with being with his mother and littermats. That leaffall was hard on the family of snow leopards... that leafbare, Faire's siblings were lost to the cold and stronger predators. He was seven moons old by the time his second and final sibling succumbed to the harsh conditions of the year. His mother grew slightly unstable after losing two of her three kits. She became overprotective of her only cub, protecting him to the point where he wasn't even allowed to interact with other cats. His life was quiet for quite some time after, moons coming and going silently as he stayed close to his mother. It wasn't until he was 14 moons would his life suddenly take a sharp detour.
The fire happened quickly -- the rain did nothing to quell the sudden lightning burst. The drought that had occurred for months beforehand had made all of the trees perfect for fire fuel. It burned on and on for moons, and word spread about its impending arrival. Faire's mother, now having become completely paranoid, believed this all to be some sort of trick and forced Faire along with herself to stay where they "belonged." She didn't want to lose her territory or den to the other cats that were "scheming" against her... at least, that was how her logic ran. The fire finally hit a fortnight after the first whisperings of its existence spread through their home. The fire wasn't as silent as the rumors, of course, and far more destructive. It rampaged through everything, destroying trees and animals, leaving nothing for the sake of mercy.
Faire's mother wasn't spared from the unforgiving flames, either. Faire tried desperately to pull his mother out from under a fallen tree, but to no avail. When a large flaming branch fell onto his back and seared through his skin and fur, he finally gave up, yowling in pain as he bolted away from the only family he had. The guilt he had would stay with him forever, signified only more by the scar on his back.
He collapsed after a while of running, dying slowly from weakness, starvation, and the wounds on his back. That was when Leopardclan warriors found him. They had been patrolling the borders and saw his mangled form, and brought him to their leader after a decent amount of debate beforehand. Bringing an outsider into clan territory was risky, but Faire had been lucky that day... He was quickly dubbed "ashpaw" because of the burn scars on his body.
Time went by, and Ashpaw began to study medicine with the medicine cat. Although not named a real apprentice yet, he still seemed interested in the art of healing. Because he ran from his mother.... maybe he could make up for her death by saving other cats. Braver, more valiant warriors... finally, he was granted apprenticeship and began his studies, and caught on surprisingly quickly. By the next year, he had taken over for his old master, his name turning to Ashheart because of his great kindness and warm heart.
