echostar
WALK THAT DISTANCE FROM FEAR - FOREVER.
WALK THAT DISTANCE FROM FEAR - FOREVER.
NAME... Echostar
AGE... 48 moons
GENDER... Male
CLAN... Cheetahclan
POSITION... Leader
SPECIES... 'King' Cheetah
APPEARANCE...fur; Echostar has very different fur, he's had it ever since he was born. Yet, he is no different from any other Cheetah in that sense. He has the recessive "tabby" gene, which connects many of his spots to form three long stripes all the way down his back that combine right before the end of his tail (where there is a white tip). These stripes are dark, black, and thick. His spots aren't small- but rather large and mottled, almost like that of a domesticated tabby cat. Going along with that color, the fur around his neck is thick and long, along with the mane that goes halfway down his back. He was supposed to lose that at a certain age, but never did, giving him an almost "regal" look.
physical features; He is very large for a Cheetah- nearly the maximum for weight, height, and length. He stands a towering 35 inches at his shoulder, only 13 inches below the average height of an adult male lion, and one inch below the average height of an adult female lion. He's a length of 50 inches from nose to tail, 28 inches shorter than the average length of a male African Lion. He weighs a whopping weight of 140 pounds.
His eyes are a dark and piercing red/orange color, really brought out by the extra darkness in his fur and the tear marks that every cheetah has. His paws are large, the pad dark black in color, which is not entirely common, but not very rare at all. His claws are black though, and that is pretty uncommon, seeing as most Cheetah claws are a clear color.
PERSONALITY...gentle; He is a very gentle "big cat". He doesn't like getting into fights- verbal or physical, and tries to avoid it with everything he has. He is sometimes reprimanded for "being too gentle" by other clan leaders, but he pushes it off, even though it really is true sometimes. He wants the best for his clan, and he knowns that being harsh and uncaring would not be the best. Despite his reasoning, it is well known that he is just a gentle cat at heart. Despite being gentle- he is not soft spoken at all. He is very loud when need be, he makes sure what needs to be done is done, and he's a great fighter (not the best, but great nonetheless).
reasonable; He is very reasonable. He always tries to listen to everyone's side of the story. He doesn't want anyone going 'unheard'. This was one of the main reasons he had been chosen as a deputy (and in turn became leader). Though he is reasonable, he isn't at all "overly reasonable". He will do the best for his clan, even if it 'isn't the most reasonable'. There's a certain point where he will draw the line.
protective and caring; He is very protective- almost overly protective, especially of smaller/weaker cheetahs. Kits are one of his weaknesses, and he would do anything for a mother and her kits. (He someday hopes to have a mate and have kits of his own.) He cares about every cat of his clan, and clearly knows every single one, by personality, voice, scent. He's watched them grow up. He's grown up with them. He is often turning to his senior warriors, elders, and medicine cat(s) for advice, for almost every situation. He knows he could gain valuable information from them. He makes it a point to visit them and any kits in the nursery at least once a day.
shy and humble; Despite how great he is with kits, and how much he wants a mate of his own, he's very shy when it comes to interacting with females. Of course, when it is a clan duty, he's fine, but if there is an underlying "I like you" from them or from him, he's instantly embarrassed. Not outright, freak out, but his ears grow warm, and he slightly stutters. He likes being praised and/or told he did the right thing and such, but he is very humble about it.
HISTORY...kithood; The first thing 'Echokit' did when he was born, was let out a yowl, begging for milk- his yowl echoed throughout the area, giving him his name. As a kit he was very outgoing. He would run around, practically trample the other kits, and make the queens wish he was out of the nursery already!
He'd be all over the elders and often wanted to hear their stories (especially the scary ones!). He was always doing as much as he possibly could for them- which surprised most apprentices. He never understood their surprised behavior- how could someone not want to care for such an old cat who'd been through so much for the generations before him? He promised the elders as a kit that no matter how old he got, he would always care for them.
apprenticeship; As an apprentice, 'Echopaw' was just as outgoing, just more humble now. As he promised, he kept up with caring for the older cats- senior warriors included, usually without being asked. He was more often seen in camp caring for them than out training.
A couple times he was suggested to be a Medicine Cat apprentice, but he denied, knowing he wouldn't be happy learning just about herbs and ways to heal his clanmates. He wanted to protect them with tooth and nail, as well as take care of him. It was then he decided he was going to aim for leadership.
warrior hood; It felt like forever, but eventually he gained his warrior name after a quarrel with some rogues. His warrior name was 'Echoheart', for his strong and caring heart, that seemed to echo out to everyone. Despite some reprimand from the Deputy, he continued to spend a lot of his time caring for his elders.
He had one apprentice, who was killed in an attack from another clan- the day before her warrior ceremony. He was devastated, but he wasn't allowed to grieve for long as their deputy was killed in the attack as well. It was then, he was appointed the new deputy. It wasn't long after that the leader was killed. He wasn't ready, but he accepted it with grace- after all, it was what he had always wanted.
