The water came from the sky, soaking all below it, almost cheerfully. Most were thrilled for the life giving water, however, she was less than thrilled, after all she didn't enjoy being soaking wet constantly. Who would? She enjoyed a good swim now and then, but the past few days had brought the sun out rarely, and even a water loving tiger such as she was finding the liquid to be irritating. The tiny droplets dripped from pale whiskers, onto the ground below, even as she shook her head, the moisture flying from her fur, the drops dancing the air for a short time, before splashing onto the muddy ground. Kivita herself was trying to garner some of the sun's rays when it decided to show, and had found herself a rock to rest on. Not only did it keep her from the mud, but it also retained the heat from when the sun had shone, though, it was rather chilly from the lack of that exact thing.
The tigress, upon her cool perch observed the area around her, ears flicking now and then, and she could honestly feel her irritation growing at the lack of shelter of the area. Why had she left her lovely jungle, the one thing she had known her entire life, for this absurd, treeless place? Oh, that's right, the rumors of the Clans, whatever they were. From the stories she'd heard, it was groups of large cats living together. It made her curious, honestly. She wondered how they could stand living in such close quarters, she didn't think she would stand it at all. She supposed it was a good thing that she wasn't born into these strange Clans then.
For a moment, the rain stopped, and a ray poked here and there, casting light into the overcast day. Pale eyes closed in bliss as one of the beams briefly ran over her striped coat. These open plains were strange, but with the direct sunlight, it might be worth it to stay. The rain was cold, and the trees were rarely grouped together, but she could get used to this, at least for a moon or two. After all, it wasn't as if she had anything calling her back to the shadows of the jungle. While the tigress was enjoying her moment of reprieve from the rain, she didn't stop keeping ear and eye out for any sign of life, threatening or not. After a moment though, as it appeared that this batch of showers was moving on, the clouds slowly disappearing, she could feel her eyes getting heavy. The smart thing to do would to move out of direct sight, however, it just felt so nice to have the sun on her fur again.
However, just as she was about to slip into the lovely place between sleeping and wakefulness, a sound caught her attention. Black and white ears flicked, and blue eyes focused, even as she craned her head in that direction, curious as to what it could be. It sounded as if someone had done something rather foolish and clumsy, but even when she sat up, trying to get a better look from the rock that really wasn't that high, she still didn't see anything. Still, couldn't hurt to watch, could it? --- Word count: 549 Thoughts: Just trying to get a feel of her personality. Muse: Eh. For: Anyone Song: Once Upon a Time in New York City

THE ground was soft and wet under Willowleaf's white paws as she slipped past the LionClan border. Rains had come off and on for the past few days with sunlight daring to peak out only for a few minutes at a time between showers and storms. For the white-blonde lioness, it was just fine. As her blue eyes flitted around the vastness of the loner-claimed plains, she felt confident that no one would notice her vanishing act. Again. Especially with rain dampening scents, no one would notice her leaving the territory or anyone she encountered while out and about. She hadn't quite gotten the nerve up to go back near TigerClan's unclaimed border however, so she wasn't out to visit Dragonstar. Not this time at least. She'd left Goldenpelt and Sunstride again the babysit Brightkit and Stormkit, her adopted children, and offered to hunt up a little something for them to share. This was a fine little lie but the hard part for Willowleaf was actually hunting up something to make the lie seem illegitimate. See, Willowleaf was a horrible huntress. An excellent scout and tracker but an abysmal hunter. She had poor timing and tended to break twigs or make the tall grass rustle in a fashion that scared antelope and gazelle into a stampede.
PUSHING the thought away for now, she set out into the openness of the foreign plains. She'd come out here to stretch her legs and take a breather. Since taking in the pair of abandoned kits, she'd been stuck in camp almost constantly. It didn't bother her much since she had wonderful company. Goldenpelt and her adorable newborns were wonderful and Stormkit was always making trouble. It took a bit of work to get little Brightkit out of his shell but he was making plenty of progress. Even Lotusstar, Mac and Sunstride visited sometimes. There were times when she went days without venturing to the TigerClan border however, when she got antsy and lonely. Lonely for Dragonstar's steady, quiet company. Still, she didn't dare go near. She didn't know for sure how things had worked out between Dragonstar and his apprentice, Daypaw, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to find out.
DISTRACTION for this white lioness was a bad thing however. She missed the hole dug into the ground by some animal or another and stepped right into it. With a quiet hiss of surprise when she suddenly lost her balance, Willowleaf barely saved herself from tumbling into the mud but to save herself she made quite a ruckus before finally finding all four paws on solid ground. Well, okay, she didn't save herself. Willowleaf was sent sprawling on the semi-soft ground with a muffled 'oomph'.
BLINKING open her baby blue eyes, Willowleaf was about to sit up and right herself until she heard something that made her rounded ears twitch. Raising her head just a bit, not enough to see over the grass but high enough to get a better whiff of the air around her, Willowleaf listened hard. She could smell another feline, a tiger perhaps. For a split second excitement zipped through her, hoping it was Dragonstar until she realized the scent was female and not Daypaw. A loner. Muscles tensed under Willowleaf's pale pelt as she waited and listened. No voice, no rustling tall grass. Moving so she was in a low crouch, hidden in the tall grass, Willowleaf pondered if she should retreat or push forward and hope for a friendly loner. The problem with hoping for a friendly loner was she remembered Dragonstar's constant warnings about loners and rogues, the warnings that had nearly driven her to hate the white and black tom. Still, curiosity got the best of the lioness.
MOVING silently and slowly, she moved through the tall grass without a whisper of sound. The clan would be proud, she could never move this quietly when she actually intended to catch something but as soon as it wasn't prey, she was like a ghost. Oh the irony. After a few moments she peeked through the grass, spying a boulder nearby with a tigress sprawled atop it. What was odd was the coloration of the tigress. Willowleaf knew most of them were vivid ginger and black and some were snowy white and black. Some had dark brown eyes and some had blue eyes. This tigress however, was like her amongst the clan, not quite right. Just like how Willowleaf lacked the dark gold of her clanmates, this tigress lacked the vivid ginger but that didn't mean she was snowy white either. In fact, it looked like a white tigress had rolled in ash or large amounts of dust and just never washed it off. Her pelt was washed with gray-brown where it should have been white or ginger. How odd.
WITHOUT thinking, Willowleaf stood up. She was several yards away from the tigress but now fully visible. Overhead a pool of sunlight spilled from a gap in the clouds, illuminating her white pelt and casting her baby blue eyes in an even paler cast. Realizing what she had done, Willowleaf mentally kicked herself. Why did unusual things always make her forget her self-preservation? Oh well, the damage was done. Reclining on her haunches, the young warrioress regarded the lounging tigress.

She didn't rightly look like a lion, in fact, she looked more like herself as far as coloring went, which seemed rather interesting. She had never seen a lion as pale as this one, and for this, she sat up, using her front legs to push her up into a sitting position, to get a better look at the stranger. What did she want? She hadn't smelt anything like a territory marker, and if this female wanted to start trouble, she'd be happy to defend her resting place. She'd found the boulder herself, this stranger could find her own damn spot. That thought made a growl start to grumble in her chest for a moment, before the wind, which had been playing with the word all day, shifted again, and something intriguing was brought to her attention.
She could vaguely scent something off about her, something she hadn't smelled about others before. Unknown to Kivita, that was the scent of the lioness's clan-mates, scent upon scent lying over her own. After a moment, of trying to decide if she should, she stood, white and black tail curling behind her, before lowering again, the tail twitching. She's keep her distance, at least that's what her mind was hissing at her to do. However, she left her boulder, her wonderful sunning spot, and made her way towards her unexpected company.
She was never one to welcome company with open arms, and often she preferred her own thoughts and voice to those of others. She'd also had her fair share of fights with those that thought they could muscle in on her meal or try to get her out of the area, especially if they thought they had the upper hand. This pale lioness seemed to show no aggression though, but that could always change and not end well for either female. However, as she pushed her way through the grass, this didn't stop her from moving towards the other feline. Though her body language spoke of relaxation, and definitely not aggression or anger, blue eyes stayed on the other, even as she stopped walking, out of reach, but closer than what they had been, easy to talk between one another without drawing too much attention. The wind shifted again, and the scent of the other feline hit her again, and that mixture of scents, that she could of sworn she was imagining, caught her attention. Due to this, her first words were far from elegant. " You smell odd, stranger." The words were cool, neither touched with the heat of aggression, or the warmth of friendliness. They were simply words.
She hadn't personally met many pale cats, and rarely were anyone of them lions. A tiger or two, sure, but she'd never once seen a white lioness, and this one was a first for her. An amused sound came through her nose as she regarded the other, sitting as well, as if to prove she had no dangerous intent at the moment. " You look quite strange as well. Are you sure you're a lion?" The words might seem rude to some, but there was nothing but honest curiosity in her tone. Kivita kept her gaze wary, after all, body language is easy to lie through if you know how, and she didn't know this feline very well, even if she was letting her curiosity speak for her.
Perhaps this lioness was what those rumors spoke of. She'd heard about cats that lived together, in 'clans'. Whatever that was. She knew lions lived in groups, so she might be nothing more than a pride member. Still, it was an interesting prospective. She'd come all this way to see if were true, after all, and the journey had taken her more than a few suns to get where she was now, from where she had been. These lands seemed somewhat familiar to her, and though she wasn't sure, she might of been here before. Not likely, but possible.
Most loners and rogues, she knew, were quite grumpy during anytime of day, and more so when bugged or discovered. Normally, she herself was of suspicious mind, but when something as odd looking as this came across her path, well, who was Kivita to simply dismiss it. Her curiosity was still strong in her mind, as long as this stranger didn't try to start anything, verbal or physical, they shouldn't have a problem. She'd learned a long time ago that things can change with a single word, and that distance as well as strength were your allies. As was knowing how the conversation was going, each more useful than the last.

EYES the color of a clear sky watched the ashy white tigress as she stood up and leaped off of her boulder perch. Willowleaf could tell the other was inspecting her closely and tried not to tense up, not out of aggression but out of self-consciousness. While her time with Dragonstar had helped soothe her self-conscious nature into something of a lull, Willowleaf would never be completely impervious to it. Strange looks, chuckles behind her back and the awed looks of others often made her feel uncomfortable. It was one of the reasons she'd only ever gone to one Gathering and then forever refused to attend anymore. Sure, there were other white lions in the clan but she had been one of the first. Her mother, Sunstreak, had birthed an entire litter of kits varying shades of blonde-white. Everyone had been shocked since Sunstreak and Falconeye, her parents, were both rather darkly shaded warriors. Out of the litter, Willowleaf was the only one left. Mac had come into the clan as a loner but everyone expected him to be odd and really Willowleaf was rather wary of him. He seemed to see right through her in the most unusual way. The newest pale-pelted member of LionClan was Brightkit, one of the two male kits Willowleaf had adopted. Seeing Brightkit beside Stormkit was always amusing because they were polar opposites in more ways than just coloration.
'YOU smell odd, stranger. You look quite strange as well. Are you sure you're a lion?'
THE odd smell comment surprised Willowleaf but before she could reply, the tigress fired off a comment about her being sure she was really a lion. That made Willowleaf twitch. Okay, it was a flinch, but she wouldn't admit it in front of a loner. She wouldn't admit it in front of her own clan. Instead, Willowleaf made herself sit up a bit straighter and look the tigress in the eye. She had very clear dark blue eyes that seemed oddly familiar. For some reason Willowleaf had a nagging feeling she'd met or seen this she-cat somewhere before.
"SO I've been told," Willowleaf said, her voice not necessarily unfriendly but you could tell she was uncomfortable. "I'm certain I'm a lion although I don't know what you mean about smelling funny." Willowleaf couldn't remember walking through an herb patches or anything that would alter her scent from its norm. She might smell like kits from Brightkit and Stormkit but other than that, not much had changed enough to alter her scent. "You're not quite common yourself," Willowleaf pointed out, nodding to the she-cat's ashy white-gray fur. "Seems we're two of a kind."
SINCE this she-cat smelled singularly of being a loner, Willowleaf couldn't imagine they were too similar. They were both different from the norm, that was about the only thing they had in common as far as Willowleaf could tell. It was unlikely this she-cat had ever been made fun of. Her pelt may be unusual but it wasn't ugly or even freakishly weird. So she had a bit of gray to her, so what? It was easy to overlook or forgive once you got used to it. With lions, a white pelt tended to always stick out like a thorn bush growing amongst pansies. Even cats that had known her since she'd been born sometimes were taken aback or surprised by her. They'd cover it up by calling it beautiful and unique but it had always stung. Willowleaf pushed the bitter thoughts away, unwilling to make an enemy out of a cat she'd just met just because she felt irritated by her first comment. Loners were usually an outspoken bunch anyway so why get worked up about a blunt comment? There hadn't even been any real malice in the comment, just the bluntness of facts being stated.
"MY name is Willowleaf." Willowleaf nodded her head politely.
