THEY MAY FORGET WHAT YOU SAID, THEY MAY FORGET WHAT YOU DID, BUT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.
name...adderkit//adderpaw//adderstrike//adderstar
age...twenty-eight moons
gender...male
clan...LeopardClan
position...deputy
species...Persian Leopard
apperance...Many cats in LeopardClan find Adderstrike vain and for good reason. He is an undeniably handsome specimen of a leopard. His pelt isn't a dirty gold or flushed gray like he's been covered in soot, oh no. Adderstrike's pelt is a sleek beautiful pale gold with white blooming over his underbelly and the insides of his legs. His face and chest are highlighted with classy white markings while smart black spots are scattered across his pelt. On his muzzle, black spots form neat little rows where his whiskers are and a small portion of black tips his rounded ears. As far as eyes, Adderstrike has truly captivating eyes. His gaze his intensely gold but not in a disturbing fashion. His eyes are gold in the way that they hold so many colors that you could spend all day looking in his eyes and still find new shades. Around the pupil, there appears to be a ring of red. Under the sleek gold fur, Adderstrike is all lean whipcord muscle. He's a powerful runner and jumper, doing his name justice in the speed of his attacks and the grace with which he moves during battle. In battle is when Adderstrike shines. Everything his coordinated, easy, smooth. His motions are controlled but chaotic and his focus razor sharp. When he gets in a fighting mood or is angry to the point of lashing out, pity the soul that angered him but keep your eye on him because his anger can turn on anyone.
personality...Just like his name suggests, Adderstrike is a sharp-tongued keen feline that you would not want to get on the wrong side of. His anger is legendary in the clan and comes and goes in passes. Offending or angering him is not necessarily a hard thing although true explosions of his fury are relatively rare. Adderstrike stands up for himself and his clan, defending them all no matter what they may think of him. He works his paws to the bone on patrols and is often out and about more than the other warriors. He observes everyone with a critical eye, often popping in to training sessions to observe and is known for being ab it rude when he finds someone doing something wrong. He has a high standard that few rise to, some simply to spite him. Not many in the clan appreciate Adderstrike's venomous attitude, viewing him as vain, unkind and cruel. This isn't really true. Adderstrike is difficult, nearly impossible to please, has a fickle temper and lashes out without warning but it's not necessarily for no reason. He likes to think himself a reasonable cat, driving the clan to be better and stronger and smarter merely so they can survive. Stupidity leads to death and that is simply not acceptable. He will die for any of his clanmates, no matter their personal opinion of him and is more often than not sulking in the medicine cat's den after breaking up a fight or leaping in to save a kit that wandered from camp. He frowns at the stupidity some warriors show and sneers at the disregard others have for their own life which makes him a bit of a hypocrite since he often jumps before looking when it comes to saving a clanmate. He preaches self preservation and thinking before you leap but seldom does it himself, simply because he can not be still while a clanmate suffers, regardless of if they like him, love him or hate him. His opinions are freely spoken, his tongue held only in regard to Wrenstar as she is his leader and he is nothing if not respectful before the clan leader.
history...Adderkit was born into LeopardClan in the early days of autumn to Spottedpool and Hookedclaw. At the time, Hookedclaw had just been named deputy when his mate birthed her three kits. Adderkit, Amberkit and Dapplekit were all healthy kits and the clan rejoiced at their birth since it had been many moons since the nursery had actually had kits in it. From an early age, Adderkit idolized his father for the strength, power and intelligence the older tom possessed. He wanted to be strong and smart and fast and brave like his father. He often grappled with young apprentices under his mother's watchful eye since neither of his sisters seemed too interested in play-fighting. By the time Adderkit became Adderpaw, he'd already learned a fair bit from the apprentices he fought with and was promised to be a great warrior.
Adderpaw's apprenticeship was watched over by the clan leader herself, a sly, powerful but small leopardess named Brightstar. She taught Adderpaw all the basics of being a warrior as well as some things mentors often left their apprentices to discover on their own. Under her teaching, Adderpaw grew profoundly as a fighter. He was fast, agile, powerful and aggressive in battle. More than once, other apprentices were sent to the medicine cat with the marks of Adderpaw's claws in their fur. He never really meant to hurt them unless they truly angered him, he just lost himself in battle and went on instinct. Sometimes that just led to him getting a little carried away.
Everything was relatively normal for Adderpaw until one night when he woke up to his sister, Amberpaw, leaving the apprentice den. She looked worried and scared. Concerned for her, Adderpaw followed her. She went to the border between LeopardClan and the outer lands where rogues and loners roamed. There, she met a young leopard tom named Jinx. Confused, worried for his sister and torn by loyalties to family and loyalties to the clan, Adderpaw fled. What should he do? Tell Brightstar? Amberpaw would never forgive him. Confront Amberpaw? No, she'd runaway or say he'd been dreaming. For months, Adderpaw followed his sister on her almost nightly ventures. He kept well out of sight which wasn't hard. Amberpaw was many things, a good sister among them, but she was a poor warrior. She never noticed him until one night when he followed her and she didn't stop at the border. She crossed it. Adderpaw stood on the border and waited. Dawn came and went. Noon followed on its tail and then dusk. By the time a search party found him, Adderpaw was stiff and glassy eyed from fruitlessly searching the horizon. In the end, he confessed Amberpaw's transgressions to the clan and told them she had left. The clan grieved but time rolled on.
Adderpaw was named Adderstrike nearly three moons after Amberpaw's abandonment and was granted an apprentice half a moon later due to a lack of other warriors to act as mentors. His apprentice, Mosspaw, died shortly after being named Mossheart when greencough struck LeopardClan during a particularly bitter winter. A few moons after Mossheart died, Adderstrike was woken early by his mother well before dawn. Spottedpool had borne a second litter of kits, another trio of young leopards, and was now completely in panic. She'd woken early to find her kits nowhere in the nursery. Adderstrike roused the warriors and together they searched camp, turning each den inside out and upside down in search of the missing kits. When they couldn't be found, Brightstar sent Adderstrike, Dapplefur and Jaggedhawk, the clan deputy, to search the forest. Two other patrols went out as well, each one heading in a different direction.
The season had been a bitter one, a spring far wetter than anyone ever remembered. The creeks and streams had burst their banks and everything seemed forever in varying states of dampness. It made tracking the kits difficult but eventually Jaggedhawk picked up a scent. Together the three plunged into the forest. The kits, Honeykit, Boldkit and Longkit, were found tangled in debris in the middle of a flooded river. Jaggedhawk tried to jump to them but the wet stone under his paws made him slide as he took off. He fell short and plummeted into the water. When a patrol found him three days later, his neck was broken, whether from the fall or the river, no one knows. At the time however, he was swept under the fast flowing current and lost from sight. Dapplefur ran along the river to try and find Jaggedhawk while Adderstrike slowly climbed down the canyon to the narrow riverbank. Jaggedhawk had tried jumping from the top of the small canyon but Adderstrike instead leaped from the bank straight into the water. When he finally reached the kits, he told them to climb onto his shoulders and hold on tight and not worry if it hurt him. To this day he still has scars on his shoulders from their claws and fangs as they struggled to hang on when he battled his way back to shore.
In the end, Adderstrike used the current of the river to push him toward the shore, pushing himself diagonally in the water and letting the water push him along. When they returned to camp, search parties went out for Jaggedhawk when Dapplefur failed to find him. Three days later he was found dead, washed up on the shore. Brightstar named Adderstrike her deputy shortly before her death, claiming it was for his bravery though most of the clan silently groaned, thinking him pompous and vain.
