GOOD INTENTIONS MEAN NOTHING WITHOUT SUCCESS
name...Elkwhisker
age...27 moons
gender...Male
clan...Lionclan
position...Warrior
species...Asiatic lion
appearance...Elkwhisker, although having a slightly large frame, has the same general appearance of many male lions. Being only a little over two years old, his thick mane is not entirely grown in yet, however already it flows from his belly and elbows as well as neck and shoulders. The one place it fails to reach is the top of his head, as it has yet to thicken. His mane is a much darker shade of brown towards his withers, but blends in nicely with the sandy color of the rest of his muscular body. The tuft of fur at the end of his tail matches that of the darker part of the mane. Following his color down to his paws, the sandy tone lightens, and there appears to be slight striping along his thick legs. His head conforms with the rest, staying mostly the same tan color save for his muzzle and chin, which lightens to a soft white, making his dark pinkish nose stand out even more. His soft eyes are a red tone of brown, and they often look upon others with compassion.
personality...Elkwhisker's overall demeanor is laid back and caring, however naive. He often sets out to do a good deed, and it backfires and doesn't turn out. Typically it's because he tends not to think things all the way through. After arriving in Lionclan, he was raised in their protection, and thus his reasoning skills only developed with the understanding that many others have his back. He needn't think things through because other lions will team up to take the fall together.
The male sets extremely high expectations on others, many of which are unable to be met. However serious at times, Elkwhisker enjoys relaxing and having a bit of a laugh, but he knows the time and place. He's a humble fella', and has a great respect for his elders. He tries to express his affection and submission, but as he is very clumsy, he usually makes a fool of himself. He can also be very indecisive about things, likely because he has seen the consequences of a wrong choice.
Elkwhisker despises overconfidence, it's one of the things he can't stand. He looks up to ambition and hard work however, and smiles upon Sunpaw for her dedication. He often scolds her for her cockiness, and any others that take too much pride in themselves.
Elkwhisker is open to his elder's opinions. He tends to be more stuck in his own ways when it comes to younger cat's thoughts, though. He's likely to listen respectfully, and then gently show his dissent. He's rational, and not easily swayed to another opinion unless provided with an abundance of convincing evidence.
An inexperienced cat, Elkwhisker is on the slightly naive side, however good intentioned he may be. He has a humble spirit, and overconfidence irritates him like crazy. He looks admiringly down on his apprentice Sunpaw for her ambitions, but frowns upon her overconfidence. The male sets extremely high expectations, which are most often unable to be met, and yet Sunpaw's attempts prove worthy of his praise. Although very serious at times, Elkwhisker is very capable of relaxing and sharing a laugh, which he very much enjoys. He can be clumsy, but respects his elders and values their opinions.
history...This Asiatic Lion has no peaceful, happy cubhood. He was not born under the protection of his clan mates. In fact, he was born a loner, however he did not stay one for very long. While he had no set home, he was known as Hector by his mother and siblings. His father, Abrum, was sticking around, which was a very peculiar thing seeing as many males took off after conception of the child. Or maybe that's just what Hector thought.
Anyway, not much happened in his first breaths of life. He was about one moon old when the most important part of his life happened. His sister, Karah, was much of a leader with a take charge personality. Everyone listened to her. So at her suggestion of exploring, Hector and his two brothers immediately agreed to the idea, and off they snuck. Liabi, their mother, was out hunting alone, and Abrum had wandered off to watch his mate make a catch. The cubs were alone, and creeping along without detection was fairly easy.
They headed out, oblivious to the dangers that lurked around every bush. They began splashing around in the water hole, playing and batting each other with their paws. A pack of hyenas approached, ever so slyly. As they encroached on the unknowing cubs, Liabi had returned to see that her cubs were missing. She bellowed for them, but they continued playing, deaf to the desperate braying of their mother. She searched frantically for them, but noticed them too late.
The Hyena's had begun mouthing at the cubs, and only Hector had had the size and speed to escape with a few scratches. They shied from him due to his brute size, and focused on the other three. Liabi raced in to protect her shocked and dying cubs, but the Hyenas jumped on her. There were far too many for the relatively small lioness to take on by herself. They quickly grew bored, but only after sentencing Hector's mother to a slow and painful death. Abrum takes off when he sees Liabi's condition and never returns.
Hector, devastated, laid by his mother and watched his siblings pass. Liabi struggled to get her words out, but she told her sun to seek the protection of a family called "Lionclan". She told him the general direction he was to head, and he reluctantly sauntered off.
It was a harsh journey and took a toll on his pads, but he made it. It was difficult, but not terribly far. Had it been too far the cub would have starved to death. He arrived, and the clan took him in, and changed his name to Elk-kit. He was taken in by a queen, but quickly transferred to apprenticeship as soon as possible. He had a good, respectable mentor who taught him well. He lives with the decision of following Karah, and it still haunts him often.
