eaglestar
ONE QUESTION HAUNTS AND HURTS, TOO MUCH, TOO MUCH TO
MENTION, WAS I REALLY SEEKING GOOD, OR JUST SEEKING
ATTENTION? IS THAT ALL GOOD DEEDS ARE WHEN LOOKED AT
WITH AN ICE COLD EYE? IF THAT'S ALL GOOD DEEDS ARE MAYBE
THAT'S THE REASON WHY NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED

name...eaglestar
age...thirty eight moons
gender...female
clan...leopardclan
position...leader
species...cheetah
apperance...Thin and relatively tiny, Eaglestar stands at a mere thirty inches at the shoulder, a full five inches less than the average height for a cheetah. She's got fifty inches in body length, with her tail tacking on an extra twenty seven. Her fur is a sun-faded light gold with a pale cream underbelly, with the cream wrapping around the whole of her throat, making half of her neck a cream shade which lightens to an almost-white shade on her lower jaw. Her tear marks are thin, while the rings on her tail are thick with the black shade fading to a dark brown from sun exposure. Her eyes are a dark brown, nearly black, and her ears are very much rounded, practically half circles. Her body itself is thin - even for a cheetah. She looks nearly delicate at times, and it's only more so now as her appetite is fading and she eats less and less. All concern for her own well-being has often been thrown to the wind, and it's left many a mark on her body. Most are hidden beneath fur, but there are a few scratch lines of white along her legs where the wound was bad enough to affect the color of her coat when it grew back. Her worst, of course, is the line that runs from an inch further back from the corner of her mouth. it runs down along her throat, a white line acting as a constant reminder.
personality...Eaglestar is not how you would expect a leader to be. She'll do her job, sure, and her decisions aren't really questionable, However, it almost appears as if she has no empathy. She'll make sure a clan member gets help if they're injured, but at this point that is solely because of her duty to them. One might wonder why someone so uncaring was ever chosen for a deputy - but the thing is, she wasn't always like this.
Before her near-death experience just a few short moons ago, Eaglestar was what everyone would dream of for a deputy. She did everything for everyone, never caring for her own well-being. She would fight, yes, but only when she had to and only to protect her clan, those she cared for or helpless individuals. She was the type of cat who would throw herself into a river to save someone even when she, herself, couldn't swim. Even the other clans had a hard time hating her because they knew, given the right circumstances, she'd help them just as quickly as she would help a clanmate. This part of her though, has turned cold, with a belief that she'll reap only punishment for caring so much.
Still, she's determined and loyal, both useful qualities for a leader. She's willing to listen to other opinions, but you better have proof to back them up and give them meaning, or else your chances of changing her mind are slim. This is part of the reason her attitude change has been so complete - she's convinced herself she's an evil of sorts, and no one's been able to convince her otherwise. Not that they've tried - they don't know what's gone wrong in her mind, simply thinking it's her trying to get over her losses. If only they knew just how wrong they were.
history...It was a simple life for young Eaglekit; she was the daughter of Sparrowheart and Frostlight, and she was sister to Slightkit. Both kits were small, born prematurely, but it was mid-greenleaf, so it was warm enough they didn't have any added struggle to the attempt to survive. They were the only kits in the nursery, and the only ones expected to be around for some time to come, so they were well taken care of. The day they opened their eyes and wobbled their first steps, the clan rejoiced. Soon enough, those wobbling steps turned into steady, sure ones that expanded to running and needless to say, they were difficult to handle. Slightkit was the worst, with Eaglekit a voice of common sense - albeit, only when things had potential to harm others beside herself. In fact, for this reason, most assumed she would prefer the path of a medicine cat.
Then, of course, they were quickly corrected. The leader was stopped mid-sentence during her apprentice ceremony when a loud "no!" escaped from her jaws, cutting off the second half of the medicine cat's name. Naturally, she shrunk back with apologies the next moment, but she only earned a chuckle and a reassignment; a tough tom named Brackenclaw. He wasn't unfair or cruel, but he made her life difficult on many an occasion, pushing her to her limits. She thrived in the environment, for the most part - and yet she was still the apprentice who would always be caught offering to help another even when her own plate was full. She never did anything for herself.
It was when the young cheetah apprentice went running for a flying leap in order to get between a rogue and non-clan kits that they truly realized just how far she would go for others, even at the expense of herself. For a few moments, even, she looked to the bystanders as if she was flying - and thus earned her warrior name, Eagleflight. She spent a quarter-moon recovering from her injuries from that event, but as soon as she was better, she was given her warrior ceremony alongside her brother, now Slightlegs.
She slid into warrior life easily, with nothing particularly defining for much of the time. It was exactly five seasons before she became deputy, though there was no large battle. The prior deputy was simply old and retiring - and Eagleflight's intense passion for helping and her undying loyalty to her clan got her the position, and it was hardly contested. She'd proven her worth more than once to each and every clan member, and she was well liked.
However, her good deeds were to come to an end. She'd rarely been thanked for her troubles in the past, and that alone hardly bothered her, but when she too it upon herself to drag a half-dead loner to camp for treatment and begged for him to be allowed to stay until he could fend for himself, she never thought she would get burned like she did. Days later, when he was mostly healed, the clan was sleeping - and in return for her good intentions towards him, he took the leader's last life, as well as the lives of a few other warriors before he got to Eagleflight. She was saved from her fatal injury by starclan coming to her, rather than having her go to the Starcavern - she was given her lives then and there, but he was already gone into the night. She has blamed herself ever since, and not once more has anyone seen her offer up a kindness where she normally would. She does what she must, but never goes beyond, believing she's been punished by watching as he stole away her leader, her brother, her mother, her father - everyone she ever cared about. And, for the first time, revenge has crossed her mind; and one thing that stuck around is her determination. He'll get his payback, if she has anything to say about it.
