HE HATH MADE ME REGARD GOD MUCH LESS THAN I OUGHT
AND, FOR A WOMAN, HAVE I SET AT NAUGHT

apperance...
The first thing you notice about Boulder -- he's aptly named. He's always been large -- but shot up quickly in his adolescence and by the time he'd started wandering with his sister -- he was nearly three times her size -- though Pebble had always been on the smallish size. Boulder's shoulders are broad, and his limbs thick as small tree trunks. Quite obviously he is not a fast runner -- though makes up for that with endurance and strength. He is still youngish of course, and his mane has yet to fully arrive, though It's beginnings blossom on his chin and chest, and half-circle the sides of his head, though it pokes comically from the top of his head at times. The edges are just beginning to acquire the grey-brown pigment that will one day darken into deep chocolate brown. His fur is close enough to the normal shade for lions. Mostly, on his sides and underbelly it varies from light tawny to creamy-tan. His spine and shoulders sport a brighter shade of reddish-brown. His tail is long, and sports the same grey-brown that fringes his mane, and will darken as well as he continues to age. His face his broad, and coated in soft tawny fur, framed by the tawny beginnings of his mane. His eyes are a deep gold-brown, and fringed with chocolate. Perhaps his most notable facial feature -- at the two large scars just to the right of his right eye. The smaller of the two starts almost at the edge of his eye -- and is about two inches long. The larger of the two is wider and curves along his face and it is about two and half inches long.
personality...
Boulder has always been a stoic creature by nature. While Pebble was the outgoing cub of the group, Boulder was always her polar opposite, he's a quiet brute who prefers action over speech, and is firm in the belief that people can lie through words, but it's actions that tell the person. While he doesn't speak often -- when he does it's normally something to pay attention to. The male is wise beyond his years, and speaks with thoughtfulness and sincerity. He's honest to a fault.. and doesn't really lie. inversely, he tends to trust to easily if a cat can play the right cards. While he is all brawn, he does posses some brains as well. Sure, he may not be the next Einstein, but he is more than just a mindless drone. He's quite the gentleman, and was raised with strict values -- if he hadn't been Pebble would have mauled him worse than just the scars on his face. Always interested in chivalry and placing the needs of others before his own self. He's a kind soul -- but can be a bit intimidating. His weaknesses are those that he cares fore, because he cares deeply for many souls. He has a softness for kits, and it's comical to see the large creature allowing miniature lions to climb all over him.
history...
Boulder and his two siblings were born to a simple minded she-lion who felt she had no need for a group. Because of the lack of exposure to others, she was a bit of an odd soul. She named her children by their size. Boulder was obviously, the largest followed by the middle kit -- another male, whom she called Stone, and then last the only female of the group was given the moniker Pebble. She was an older lion -- one who had many litters before, and this was her last. Boulder and Pebble developed a close bond from the start -- because he protected her from the malicious soul that was Stone. the kits never knew their father, so the pair could only speculate that Stone got his personality from the unknown male.
Because Boulder was always so much bigger -- he was the favorite, the kit that his mother favored because he was the most likely to survive -- but it was clear from a young age that her sanity was failing her. She often called them by names that were nothing close to what she had given them, and often had conversations with lions that didn't exist. By the time the cubs had reached six moons, she would ignore them for days on end -- and sometimes acted as if she did not recognize her own cubs. Stone left at seven moons, and nether Boulder or Pebble have seen him since.
Their mother died when Boulder and Pebble were just barely 8 moons old, and the learned her name just before she died. Reedfoot. She had shortened it to simply Reed when she left her native clan, and told them of Lionclan almost in a daze, and then died. Pebble, taken by the idea, made Boulder promise that they would make their way there. Neither of the siblings wanted to end up like either Stone or Reed. They started their trek just after they'd aged to 10 moons, and with nothing to go on, they wandered aimlessly for a long while, just over 13 moons now, they had almost forgotten about their once goal to find their mother's kin. Pebble was grown now, and though Boulder still towered over her, she was a spitfire alright. A petty argument turned full on fight left him with scars, and her with a guilty conscience. Things were different after that -- the siblings not as close as they had once been. She was the only creature who could dig around in his heavy silence and actually figure out what he was feeling. She sickened not long after.
With almost no knowledge of herbs or remedies that would actually work, he had no way of knowing she had whitecough, only that she was sickened, and there seemed to be nothing he could do. Eventually, he grew sick as well, and for a long while it looked grim for the siblings, but he seemed to pull through and get over it. Always weak little Pebble wasn't so lucky. Her cough worsened, and again he didn't know it -- but became Greencough and without any real treatment she died not long afterward.
With that loss, the male sort of wandered for a time afterward -- his only remaining family was dead -- and Stone was nowhere to be found. Without knowing it, he stumbled across the Lionclan they had so searched for all they time ago, but now he is apprehensive about it. He is not a cat that wants to lose those close to him again..
