TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK

name...Skyfire
age...54 moons
gender...male
clan...tigerclan
position...warrior
species...tiger
apperance...Strong and powerful- a tiger by all standards. Skyfire is a stereotypical king of the jungle, with great corded muscles and bulky, wide-set shoulders. He’s a tall beast, very clearly made for his power rather than his speed. Sure, he can be nimble at his best, but compared to his quicker co-partners, very, very slow indeed. He is quite a fine swimmer, especially because he enjoys the water, with his broad back paws and capable front limbs. He is well-cut, very similarly built to the deputy, Crimsonfire, added with his broad shoulders. His strength is brute, though practiced and contained. Hidden deep within his pads are claws, perfect and well-kept, if a tad bit cream from his more gruesome battles.
He has a handsome face, open and easily approachable. At least, the expression he often wears make this so. In reality, the bones are prominent, wide and angular. With the right snarl, his front could turn terrifying. Luckily, this is a rare occurrence. He has intelligent eyes, a lovely shade of green, and they are just slightly almond in shape. A hazelnut, perhaps. Ears perk and alert, they give him a clean look, with fur that seems to be cut short around his face, taking away the roughness. Long, pearly white whiskers sprout from his cheeks. A pink nose, teddy-bear like, sits prominently on his maw, a splotch of paint in the orange and white.
His pelt is like many a tiger, rusty orange and shining white, becoming gold in the lighter areas. Stripes, dominant and webbing, net their way up his entire body, as if intricately hand-painted, but becoming farer and fewer down his legs and underbelly. His tail, also covered in the stripes, is long, meant for balance, and powerful, just as it should be,.
personality...Skyfire is a tiger that will always stick by your side. No cat could deny that. No matter his distaste to you, no matter how dangerous a situation is, he will always follow you. He’s a loyal creature, to friends and to acquaintances. He believes in keeping promises, and his word is resolute. A cat’s word, in his mind, means a lot and he will hold the individual to it. Skyfire is strong, always evidentially strong, not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Strong to the bone. If he doesn’t want you to see his emotions, there is not a chance you will. The tom won’t retreat, won’t go back on something he said he would do, and would give his life for the clan. Give him a reason to fight, and he’ll be right beside you.
He has always been a compassionate tiger, looking down on kits with love. He doesn’t wish for cats to die in war but sadly realizes that it is part of life. It’s not uncommon for him to put others before himself- sacrifice things that he has for the young. While the Warrior Code is important to him, if he believes what he is doing is right, then it won’t matter. In moderation, he will help the misfortunate. Now, don’t be misled to think Skyfire is a perfect angel. The tiger is plenty willing to fight, there just has to be a reason for the violence.
Not to be mistaken for cocky, Skyfire is confident. He doesn’t second guess who he is or what he believes. He knows his skill set, and pushes himself to his boundaries when possible. He isn’t afraid to fail, like many cats are, and when he does (have fault, that is), he takes it in stride. It’s a gift as much as a weakness, as he’ll attempt things others would not, potentially injuring himself in the process. He isn’t exactly ambitious, contrasted to his sister, as he doesn’t want the responsibilities to lead, though he does wish to become a trusted and respected warrior, even more so than he is now.
As the tides of the ocean, Skyfire is strong-willed. If he wants something done, if he has his mind set around something, it will darn well happen. His focus is legendary, really, it is. He could stalk a cat for hours upon hours, never faltering and forever dead set on his goal to seek out where they are journeying too. He values hard-work. Generally he is a patient beast, allowing room for failure and mistakes in his apprentices training. He has a pet peeve for a lack of respect for children’s elders though, and doesn’t appreciate being spoken down to. He won’t be unfair all that often, aiming to be a strong but gentle paw. At least, that’s how it was with his first apprentice, Crimsonfire. As to how Shrikepaw is changing him, he is much more likely to snap and push him forcefully into his place.
Good-natured. That’s another word to describe Skyfire. He is simply a loving cat, wanting to please and willing to take blame for others. He dislikes quarrels and arguments, seeking calm and pacifying words instead. A middle-man, true and true. His understanding of different perspectives makes him a likeable being, and a solid shoulder to cry on, through tough times and easier hours. A good sense of humor should go without saying.
Lastly, Skyfire is a perfectly fine thinker. He is bold, yes, but he is very capable of formulating rational plans. He ponders a situation, working his way around it or deciding to barrel right through it. Seeing the big picture has always been one of his traits.
Do you remember Whitestorm from the beginning novels? This is an ode to his loveliness <3
history...Stereotypical for a clan birthing, Skyfire was born in, not out, of their territory, quietly and effortlessly in TigerClan nursery. His mother, Featherpelt, humbly welcomed four well-sized kits, to the surprise of the rest of the clan. She had been sickly, weak, and below warrior standards for her entire life. The proud, almost smug look upon her face was triumphant, and as her kits, two toms and two she-cats, opened her eyes, she named them. Skykit, called that for forever her favorite thing in the world- the blue expanse of ceiling over their heads.
Both Amberkit and Skykit grew rapidly, very similar to one another. They bonded from birth, throwing moss balls at each other and wide-eyed listening to elder’s tales. Even in the beginning, however, it was clear Amberkit would always be more dead-set on something, that she always felt she needed to prove something. Unlike her, with her constant attachment and love to Featherpelt, Skykit would find solace in the intelligent, loyal manners of their father, Russetwind. He never felt that he had anything wrong with him; never did he need to show up another to impress him. Even from a young time, Skyfire was good-natured. When the age of six moons rolled around, he was ready to challenge himself to become a warrior.
His mentor, Silvercloud, was a wise tiger, if a little testy, and began to mould the shape of a solid warrior. She was vibrant, and in the beginning little Skypaw nursed a crush on the beautiful, quick-tongued female. She was a young warrior, and he admired her strength. She seemed oblivious to his affections and only when Russetwind gently gave him a reality check did he begin to sort through his feelings. It wasn’t her he thought he loved; it was her drive and respectable manner. How regal she was, despite her younger age. Silently, with a promise to himself, he swore to become like her, if a bit more compassionate. She was a well-rounded teacher and Skypaw grew rapidly, surpassing her slender height three-quarters through his apprenticeship. Amberpaw, still fiery and determined as ever, became just as capable as him.
At the ripe age of fifteen moons, Skypaw became Skyfire and Amberpaw became Amberwind. Only five months later he has given his first apprentice, in hopes that he could tame the wild spirit of Crimsonpaw. This indeed did prove to be a challenge, as the brute fought with him vehemently against anything he said. But Skyfire did see potential in his apprentice and kept at it. Indeed, he did overhear the conversation between Crimsonpaw and his father, sympathizing with the young tiger but never mentioning it. Let by-gones be by-gones. Something did change within him, luckily, and in a moon things were back on track. Both cats were strong, mighty things, with builds like tanks. Skyfire taught his apprentice how to convert clumsy brute force into well-aimed strength, sharing with him everything he knew. Stormhawk would be proud of him yet.
As if overnight, Skyfire lost his apprentice to warriorhood, becoming Crimsonfire in his own right. With easy-going humor, he watched in amusement as Crimsonfire thumped around camp, obviously miffed by his lack of trainee. Old habits died hard, clearly. Time wore on, moons flew past, battles wore on, and Crimsonfire became deputy. How ever much Stormhawk didn’t believe in him, Skyfire did; he nodded his head in proud approval.
Just recently, in the age of new apprentices, he has been handed the toughest of them all: Shrikepaw. Even his good-natured, levelheaded persona is occasionally cracked by the young beast’s constant arguments and disapprovals. His patience isn’t endless, no, and silently wonders if Shrikepaw was sent as a test from StarClan.
So we shall see.
