It was moon high and the warriors den was silent, except for the occasional rustle from a single nest. The deputy was restless as she tossed and turned in her nest. She couldn't fall asleep. She growled softly and made her way quietly from the den and out into the center of camp. She looked around and then at the moon. Tommorrow night would be a gathering and the moon was nearly full. She shook her coat and took another look around. It was her first night as deputy and so far it wasn't going well. She was restless with worry about her new responsibilities, concerned she would be a terrible deputy and fail her clan. It seemed like only yesterday she was a rogue. Now, as she stood in the camp, a warrior, the deputy, of CheetahClan. It all happened so fast that it had made her golden head spin wildly. She sighed as she padded out of camp. Ashstorm, are you alright? A voice made her jump and she spun around, seeing the camp's guard padding toward her with a worried look. Yes, yes. I am fine, just a little restless. she said, hoping to hide the shake in her voice. You know, Ashstorm, it's normal for a cat to be a little scared to be deputy. The guard said. I am not scared! Ashstorm snarled, but dipped her head in apology as she saw the guard tremble and take a step back. I'm sorry. Your right, I am scared. I'm worried I won't be a good deputy. I feel like I'm going to fail my adopted clan. she confessed. It's okay Ashstorm, if you ask me I think you'll make a marvelous deputy. the guard said with a soft purr. Thank you, I think I'm going to go out for a little walk. Ashstorm said and padded from camp. Out in the open, she like the feeling of the wind dance through her golden fur. She suddenly sped off, her legs a blur under the large cheetah. Out of breath after awhile, the cat slowed down on a large hill and sat on her rump, curling her fluffy tail around her large paws. She looked the stars and the moon. She felt as though she could reach out with her paw and touch the moon and every little sparkling star. StarClan, show me. Show me you are watching me, and help me be the deputy I am meant to be. she whispered.

He knew he had chosen the right cat for deputy. Despite Ashstorm being one of the few cats he hadn’t talked with a lot closely, he knew she was loyal. He knew she would do anything to defend the clan- and he knew she could lead the clan if need be or if something ever happened.
His content dream of catching gazelles slowly faded as he woke from his slumber- something he did often if he heard the guard talking, no matter how quietly. He was almost always alert, and woke when he heard something ‘unusual’. Ears perking, he could hear Ashstorm talking with the camp’s guard.
He wondered what she was up to. Until he heard her say she was fearful of failing the clan.
Purring softly, he rose to his feet with a marvelous yawn, his tail stretching out and his paws stretching forward. He padded to the camp guard, nodding to him, before calmly, trailing after his deputy, hoping he could say something to reassure her once he caught up. He wasn’t going to chase after her, just trot and wait until he reached her. He knew she would stop, Cheetahs could only run so far until they grew tired. He could already see her a few tail-lengths away, on a hill.

(Assuming your reply is complete, I shall post. Lol.) A new scent filled the air and Ashstorm's ear twitched, hearing pawsteps a fox length behind her. She turned her head slightly to see Echostar. She stood tall and turned to face him, dipping her head with respect. Echostar. What are you doing here? She asked curiously. She had wanted peace from the camp and came here into the quiet night. The cheetah she least expected follow her was standing in front of her. She padded to him, the moon's light dancing across her pelt, casting her beauty to near maximum. She dipped her head again and sat down, curling her tail once more around her paws. I'm out here because I couldn't sleep. I'm just not tired, I guess. Ashstorm lied, keeping her voice steady. She looked at the stars again. Do the anscestors really answer our prayers? I know they speak to the medicine cats only, but I need to know if they are watching me, to help guide my actions. The she-cat sighed heavily, drooping her head and laying her ears back. She looked at him with frightened eyes. Are you sure you chose the right cheetah for deputy? I know I'm just as loyal as any other warrior, Echostar, but... do you really, really believe I can be your worthy deputy? She flicked her tail. Why, Echostar? Why did you choose me? Why not someone else? She asked, curiosity burning in her amber eyes, but also fear.
(Sorry, it's a really crappy post.)

He touched his nose to hers, a greeting he did with practically every cheetah in the clan. He was a very 'contact' kind of leader. He loved to feel his clan. He felt more close to them that way.
"I saw you run out. I wanted to make sure you were okay," he admitted. "I figured we could talk."
He watched the female cheetah, not calling her out on her lie. He was almost amazed by her beauty. Why had he not noticed it before? He almost felt at a loss of breath. Sitting down, then settling on his stomach, his strong right paw resting over his left one, head lifted to watch his deputy- a position he was often in.
"Yes. Our ancestors do answer our calls. Even to cats who have never believed in them before. I find that they have answered mine numerous times. I've asked them for help. For guidance. And they have answered my calls one way or another."
He spoke fondly of them, his tail-tip touching Ashstorm's shoulder reassuringly.
"They are watching over you. They watch over each and every one of us. From the youngest kit to the oldest elder."
He had a serious look in his dark amber eyes, focusing them on the she-cat's face. Standing back up, he faced her, ears confidently perked, the breeze ruffling the long fur on his neck and back.
"I've never been so sure on something before, Ashstorm. You are meant to be Cheetahclan's deputy. I know you are. You're determined." He started circling her slowly, as if looking her over, recalling the reasons he had chosen her, his whiskers twitching thoughtfully. "You're loyal. You're fast. Strong. I know you would do anything to protect the clan. You're a leader. I know you will be able to take over if anything happens to me. I know you would be there in an emergency. I know I can trust you, if not as much as everyone else in the clan... more. I am truly confident in your capabilities and abilities."
He broke out into a fond purr. "You shouldn't doubt yourself so much."

She felt taken aback by the look of affection in Echostar's eyes, but she blinked and it was gone as fast as if it had never been there in the first place. She layed down with him, her paws brushing his, as she looked at him. You were worried about me? She asked, disbelieving this. Then her mood changed from curiosity to mild aggression. And how can you be so sure I'm right for the job? she growled, forcing her neck fur to lie flat. After all, I came into the clan a rogue, I'm still teased about it. And now I have to worry someone won't attack me because a rogue is their deputy. Her aggressive turned to slight fear again. She sat up when he did and felt his long tail brush her shoulder. She opened her mouth to speak, but shut her jaws when he started to circle her. She felt unease crawl through her pelt like a hungry bug. He was circling her as if she were prey, injured and unable to fight back. She stood up to appear bigger, to hide her increasing unease. Finally, he stopped circling her and she relaxed. He listed the qualities of why he chose her and if cheetahs could blush, her face would be bright red. She flicked her tail in a moment on happiness. She liked to be praised by Echostar. He was clan leader. She shook her pelt and layed down, letting the moon's light continue to bathe her. But Echostar. I'm only a rogue. I was born a rogue and I promise you the clan will never let me forget that. I usually trust your judgement, but this time... I'm not so sure. She stood up and walked to the top of the hill, half hoping Echostar would join her and reassure her. Anything to reassure her. Since she had joined the clan, she had secretly mooned over the leader, and his praise warmed her heart. Though now, she felt she couldn't be more distant from him.

She should know he would have no aim to hurt her, despite how he had been circling her, especially since she was the one he had chosen as his second in command.
"You are not a rogue," the larger cheetah said, almost seeming to hiss the word 'not' in his frustration. His fur bristled at her words- he hated the fact that his clan still teased Ashstorm about where she was born. "No matter where you have come from.. you are a part of Cheetahclan now. You are meant to be here, and Starclan obviously agrees, otherwise they would have not allowed you to find your way here, or stay here. The clan will have to forget that you were born outside of the clan. Nothing happens without a reason. You were meant to be here, beside me, helping me lead this clan." He laid down beside his deputy, fur brushing her's with their close proximity, feeling content with this position.
"You must trust my judgement. I may not be a old, experienced leader... yes, I am a fairly new. But I would not make a decision I regret, and I would not make a mouse-brained one. I have chosen you out of all of the other cats I could have because I trust you. I know that despite the other cat's teasing, you'll be who you are," he purred, running a tongue over Ashstorm's ear briefly and comfortingly.

Anger boiled like a wildfire beneath Ashstorm's pelt. Don't you see Echostar? I am a rogue! I always will be! She snarled, sheathing and unsheathing her claws while fighting the urge to claw his face into nothing. She forced her fur to lay flat and she sat down, taking deep, relaxing breaths. And besides, I thought rogues and loners weren't allowed to join the clans. Why did you disobey the code? she asked, distracting herself from her own anger. Ever since her mother abandoned her, Ashstorm had been filled with hate, and darkness, and anger. Now, as she sat with Echostar, alone, under the moon and stars, under StarClan, all those feelings of hate and anger seemed to be slowly vanishing. He brushed against her and she found her tail intertwining his. She felt a little embarrassed, but shrugged it off. It felt good to be with Echostar alone, to just have a normal conversation with him. Finally, all her anger had ebbed away and her bubbly personality reemerged. Alright, oh noble leader. What's the real reason you chose me as deputy? A purr rumbled softly in her throat. She waited for the answer and leaned against him, staring at the moon as it continued to splash her pelt with silver light. After a moment, she stood up and walked a mouse length away. Closing her eyes and laying her ears back. Echostar. I can't do this. Not with you. She paused for a few moments and cuffed him over the ears with a giggle. Your it! she chirped and pelted away. Now that she was calm and tired of being angry all the time, Ashstorm felt playful, and what better way to show her playful side than a game of tag.

"I don't see you as a former rogue, now a member of Cheetahclan. I see you as just a member of Cheetahclan. My deputy. Someone I can rely on." His eyes turned to her thoughtfully. He hoped he could help her stray from those thoughts of hers. She seemed so unhappy sometimes, and for some reason, he hated seeing her like that. More than he imagined one could.
His ears warmed at her words. The real reason? "T-The real reason?" He cursed his almost inability to properly talk with females sometimes- at least when it was like this, and not just clan business. But those nervous feelings were pushed aside as she purred, and he couldn't help but purr as well, his tail following hers.
Worry crossed his face, whiskers seeming to droop as Ashstorm said that she couldn't do this, before he jumped up in response to the cuff.
"Oh you," Echostar grumbled playfully with a grin, chasing after Ashstorm, loving how he could feel content just being with her this way, he felt like a kit again. Running, playing tag. It was relaxing.

Ashstorm laughed as she saw him growing closer to her. Not watching where she was going, Ashstorm stumbled, twisting onto her side. Her paw stung as if it were stuck between the jaws of a LionClan warrior. She looked to see it lodged between two large rocks and stood up awkwardly so she wouldn't hurt it more than it already was. She pulled, but it only seemed to get more stuck and hurt more. She growled and yanked her paw free, hearing a sickening pop as it came unstuck. Pain surged through her leg, but she ignored it, sniffing her paw and putting pressure on it, only to have pain crackle around her leg. She snorted and sat down, trying to hide her injury as she looked around for Echostar.

His ears perked as he heard her stumble- hearing it better than seeing it happen. Worriedly stalking forward, he came up from behind the she-cat, before he let her know he was there, brushing against her as he walked from behind her and around her.
As he reached the front of her, he turned, plopping on his bottom to crouch and peer at her leg, sensing the pain she was in.
"Are you okay?" he mewed, almost worriedly, ears laid back and his tail resting over his own paws. Not only was the worry fueled by the feeling that it could affect her skills- it was mainly the affectionate worry. He didn't want her to be in pain. Crouching down further, he sniffed at her leg, but his eyes were focused on his deputy, hoping she wouldn't take offense to his concern.

Ashstorm growled as he asked if she was okay. Of course I am! She snarled, but flattened her ears. No. I hurt my paw real bad. I can barely put any weight on it. The cheetah confessed. I was running and lost sight of you. Me, being the mouse-brain I am, wasn't paying attention and stepped in a hole covered by these two rocks. My paw got lodged between them and I think I pulled something other than my paw from the hole. She growled, scolding herself. She stood and shook her coat. But it's no big deal, Echostar! I'm fine! Ashstorm was more reassuring herself than Echostar. Her paw was flaming hot with the pain and swelling. But all the same, I think Swiftstep should look at it. She shook out her pelt and started to hobble toward camp. You know, Echostar? You never told me why you really chose me? I have an idea, but I'm not sure. Ashstorm said in a flirty tone. Will you confirm my guess? The she-cat was curious to see if he was returning her feelings of affection and maybe, just maybe... love.
OOC: Sorry, it's crappy, I know.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i775.photobucket.com/albums/yy35/BaileeDanielle3/table2-1.png][scrolly:h(98),w(310),sy] Echostar tried to hold in a purr of amusement at Ashstorm's feisty reaction, knowing she would not appreciate it nor find any humor in it.
"I can tell you hurt it really bad. I can feel the heat radiating off of it," he explained to the she-cat. "But yes, you're right. We should go see Swiftstep. Better safe than sorry." Raising to his feet, he shook his fur, as if shaking invisible worries off of his shoulders. He didn't like worrying- but he found himself worrying more about Ashstorm than he worried about anything, and in some way, he felt guilty.
Pressing close to his deputy, he helped her along, hoping she would not mind, his ears perked towards camp. His ears were warm at the contact, tail brushing hers at her words.
"W-Well," he started embarrassedly, looking up to the sky sheepishly and humbly. "I do... quite like you. But you know that wasn't the only reason." He sounded flustered, obviously not wanting that to get around camp. The clanmates would not approve if the reason he had given Ashstorm her rank as deputy was that he liked her- and it wasn't just that, that was just a plus, added to the loyalty and strength.
Though- he did have to admit to himself, he had been admiring her a lot. And even more so now that they had spent the night together. She was really something, and he found himself feeling more and more feelings for her.
"Okay, maybe more than like," he finally said, not wanting her to get the wrong idea. "But the clan would not like it if they thought that was the only reason I chose you as my deputy." He chuckled slightly, whiskers twitching.

Ashstorm looked at him, astounded, that he liked her just as much as she liked him. Maybe they could be more than friends. She flicked his ear with the tip of his tail. Well, Echostar. That is a problem. she sighed. See, I'm not as interested in you as you are me. I must know you are committed to me before I hand myself to you. Ashstorm was playing another game of hers. She wanted him to think she wasn't interested in being his mate so he would become more interested in her. If she gave herself to him now, Echostar would probably think he could have her anytime. That wasn't the case with Ashstorm. You had to prove you are worth her time and affection. That is what she was doing to Echostar. She purred and rubbed against him. But, then again, I have to admit Echostar. You have stolen my heart and I believe you will refuse to give it back. The deputy purred and licked his cheek. She padded awekwardly ahead of him as they reached the camp's entrance. But don't expect me to show my feelings for you in the prying eyes of the clan just yet. She growled playfully and padded into camp. Dawn light was splashing red across the camp and warriors were assembling around the center of camp ready for their duties. Ashstorm joined them, a little discouraged by the glares and growls of the clan. She puffed out her chest and stood tall. As she named off the warriors for hunting and patrolling, they left and soon the camp was a little less crowded. She turned to Echostar's den and flattened her ears, her heart drumming wildly in her broad chest. She cleared her throat and shook her pelt and took a pace toward her leader's den, but then stepped back as pain reclaimed her paw. She headed toward the medicine den and got it cared for, then went to Echostar's den. Echostar. I must speak with you, please. She asked before entering.
OOC: I think they fell in love faster than planned, so I'll just have her seal the deal, or he can. ^.^

When he did hear her response, he felt disappointed, doubting himself on whether her advances had been his imagination or not. He thought she had liked him too? Finally realizing what she was getting at and what she was doing, he let out an amused purr.
"Yes. You won't be getting it back," he growled playfully, ears perked towards her, leaning into her touch, ears growing red and warm with embarrassment at the lick. He watched her go forward, forcing himself to stay calm and relax his quickly beating heart.
"Oh, I couldn't expect too much that quickly," he mewed playfully, heading to his den to lay down. He plopped down unceremoniously, laying his head on his paws. With eyes half lidded, he watched his deputy do her job and tell the other clan members who would go on patrol and who would hunt.
He purred to himself, pleased with how well she handled herself. He would have jumped in and told his clan to not treat her that way- but he knew that Ashstorm would probably appreciate it more if she gained the respect of her clanmates the right way, and not seem weak and under constant protection of the clan leader.
By time she returned from the medicine den, he was sitting up, licking his right back leg, which was stretched out. At the sound of her voice, he straightened up.
"Yes, of course. Come in," he replied formally eyes focused on the entrance as he waited for her to enter.

Ashstorm looked at him with a look of strong affection. She padded into the den, holding back a shiver as the coldness of the den chilled her compared to the warmth of the rising sun. She stood in front of Echostar and touched noses with him before laying down by his side, her fur brushing his. Echostar, I've told you how I feel. You've told me how you feel. Maybe we can be... She hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts, before closing her eyes and laying back her ears. Nevermind. It's stupid. She sighed. She looked at him and licked his ear before grooming her paws and whiskers. She wanted to be more than just his deputy, more than just his friend, but she didn't know how to tell him that she wanted to be his mate. She sighed and looked at Echostar, gathering her courage, which burned in her eyes like an out of control fire. I'm just going to say it... Ashstorm paused again to get her thoughts together and stood up tall, looking at Echostar with serious eyes. Echostar. I wish to be more than just your deputy. More than just your friend. This is my wish because... because... I think... I think I may already love you in the short time I've known you! Ashstorm said quickly, her words jumbling together. She sat down. There. I said it. She sighed with relief, having gotten it out of her.
OOC: Again, it's a sucky post. I apologize.
